Aussie MMA veteran George Sotiropoulos has been released from the UFC some two months removed from his defeat at the hands of K.J. Noons, a loss which capped off a four-fight skid in the promotion for the 36 year-old.

The news was revealed today by UFC Tonight on Twitter. Rosi Sexton and Alessio Sakara have also been handed their marching orders.

It’s been a drawn out fall from grace for the Aussie fighter, who last tasted victory in the UFC over three years ago. That was against Joe Lauzon back in Nov. 2010, at UFC 123: Rampage vs Machida.

With that win, Sotiropoulos was enjoying an impressive seven-fight win streak in the promotion, which also included wins over Kurt Pellegino, Joe Stevenson, and Billy Miles, who he submitted on the heels of his semi-finals birth in the 6th season of The Ultimate Fighter in 2007.

His troubles started at UFC 127 in Sydney where he was out boxed on the way to a unanimous points decision loss to Dennis Siver. He faced Rafael Dos Anjos next at UFC 132 and was knocked out in the opening minute. A heated coaching appearance followed opposite Ross Pearson in the Australia vs UK edition of The Ultimate Fighter, which concluded at UFC on FX 6 where he was convincingly beaten by the UK standout.
