    ‘Shogun’ Rua knocks out James Te Huna in the first at UFC Fight Night 33

    In the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 33, former UFC and Pride FC champion Maurico “Shogun” Rua (pictured) scored an impressive first-round KO win over Sydney based James Te Huna.

    Te Huna immediately went on the front foot as Rua chose to counter, swinging with heavy shots. After a small exchange, Te Huna came forward however was met with a devastating short left hook that knocked Te Huna out cold. Rua put an exclamation point on the knockout with a follow-up punch to an already unconscious Te Huna.

     The stoppage came only 1:03 into the fight.

    A big KO win for “Shogun” Rua who moves to 22-8 as a professional and 6-6 inside the UFC.  It was an important win for Rua who came into the fight on back-to-back losses in the UFC against Alexander Gustafsson and Chael Sonnen. Te Huna drops to 5-3 in the UFC and 16-7 as a professional.

    UFC Fight Night 33 was held at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Queensland, Australia and shown live in Australia on Fuel TV.
