Only a week after making a successful MMA debut in his home-town of Adelaide, accomplished kickboxer Paul Slowinski had his second MMA fight, this time in his birth country of Poland as part of the KSW 24 fight card. Unfortunately for Slowinski, he showed that he still has work to do on his ground game as he succumb to a rear-naked choke submission in the first round to Marcin Rozalski.
As the fight started both Slowinski landed nice early combinations only for Rozalski to return fire with combinations of his own. Both fighters took low blows in the early part of the fight as they exchanged heavy kicks. With a couple minutes left in the round, Rozalski went for the takedown straight into the mount position. Off his back, Slowinski was in untested territory and struggled to bridge or improve his position. As the ground and pound continued Slowinski turned his back and Rozalski capitalised, securing the choke to get the tap at 4:30 into the fight.
A former kickboxer himself, Marcin Rozalski moved his professional record to 4-1 while Slowinski drops to 1-1.
The event took place at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland and was headlined by former strongman champion Mariusz Pudzianowski who avenged a loss to Sean McCorkle back in June to defeat the former UFC fighter via a unanimous decision. Lookout for a rubber match between these two.
