New Zealand’s Matt Vaile made quick work of his opponent Will Chope in the main event of Beatdown Promotions 2 on Saturday night.
The veteran Chope closed the distance early in the bout where he pulled guard. Vaile used it to slam Chope to the ground. Vaile immediate went to work there, ultimately securing the mount which forced Chope to turn and there Vaile locked up the rear-naked choke to get the tap, 1:25 into the contest.
The win takes his record to 12-2 as he again made his case for a shot in the UFC.
“We knew we had to put on a show because ultimately we want to hit that UFC goal,” Vaile commented post-fight.
“I’m a sparky by trade but a fighter by heart. I have done my apprenticeship so it’s my time for UFC. Call me up. You know who it is. If anyone else thinks they owe the shot then come see me and we will meet in the middle here.”
In the co-main event Stewart Nicoll main event, Stewart Nicoll cut open his international opponent, Peter Benavente from Guam. After a short scramble, Nicoll secured the top position where he dominated the ground game to secure the ground-and-pound TKO victory inside the first round.
Beatdown Promotions 2 took place at the Eatons Hill Hotel in Queensland and was broadcast live on YouTube.
