It’s been one hell of a week for Shannon Ross.
First, he fell courageously short in his Dana White Contender Series bout as he was stopped by Vinicius Salvador. Despite the loss, Ross managed to impress both Dana White and the UFC matchmakers with his gallant performance, however, it wasn’t enough to walk away with a UFC contract
The Gold Coast-based fighter woke up the next day in agony and was sent to the hospital for another checkup where it was discovered he had a ruptured appendix.
“The surgeon and Ufc doctor couldn’t believe it and think it was like this for 4 days previous,” Ross posted on his social media account.
He immediately underwent emergency appendectomy surgery and when news got back to the UFC brass, they decided to award him with a UFC contract.

But coming out of that surgery getting a call from my manager @dannyrube made everything that little sweeter, I could hardly move or react but the emotions inside were on an all-time high
He told me that he had been in contact with @mickmaynard2 and they wanted to sign me after the craziness that had unravelled, before the fight, in the fight and after the fight
And all I can say is I gave it absolutely everything I had to get here and make this happen

A former Eternal flyweight champion, Ross comes into the UFC with a 13-6 professional record.
