The postponed IMMAF World Championships have concluded with Team Australia walking away with a silver medal in the junior championships.
Lack of entrants in the women’s junior lightweight division meant that Erin Carter progressed to the final, where she came up against Russian Dariya Pirogova. The Russian started strongly and Carter came back later in the bout, but for two of the judges, it wasn’t enough, as the Australian lost a split points decision, 28-29, 28-29, and 29-28.
At 19-years-old, the future does seem bright for this multi-disciplined trained fighter who has competed across Boxing, K-1, and Muay Thai as well.
New Zealand had some outstanding performances, ending the championship with two bronze and an impressive gold for Fergus Jenkins in the middleweight division.

Jenkins claimed the gold with a split decision over Russian Iupsup Magomedov in the final after progressing to the final with two submissions and two decision victories during the week.
Former world champion Michelle Montague could not overcome her adversary, Sabrina Laurentina De Sousa, and had to settle for bronze at featherweight while Mel Webster lost her lone fight, and walked away with a bronze in the women’s lightweight division.
