City Kickboxing’s big night in Las Vegas has not got off to the best of starts.

New Zealand’s Kai Kara-France fought valiantly but ultimately lost a unanimous decision to Brandon Moreno.

Moreno won on all three judges’ scorecards, winning 29-28,29-28,30-27.

Both fighters continued to prove why the division deserves to remain in the UFC, highlighting a technical proficiency that is only seen in the lighter weight classes.

Kara-France started the fight well, showcasing the slick striking that has become synonymous with City Kickboxing on his way to easily winning the first round.

In the second round, however, Moreno picked it up into another gear, landing shots to the body of Kara-France and unloading combinations.

Great showcase for the flyweight division!

Moreno continued with the momentum in the third unloading jabs which bloodied the nose of Kara-France as the Kiwi began to tire. The Mexican started to showboat and flex as he clearly had the upper hand before the final bell rang to end the fight.

The loss is Kara-France’s first in the UFC and snaps his eight-fight winning streak. His professional record now stands at 20 – 8 – 0 , 1NC

Moreno improved to 16-5 with the win.
