Dan Hooker offers half of his show money to Dustin Poirier’s charity in order to fight him

Dan Hooker really wants to fight Dustin Poirer.

So much so, the Kiwi has offered to pay half his show money of his potential fight purse to Dustin Poirier’s charity, in order to get the former interim-champion to fight him in Auckland.

The offer comes off the back of Hooker’s call out of Poirier at UFC 243 in Melbourne this past weekend. The Hangman produced arguably the best performance of his career when he defeated Al Iaquinta by unanimous decision.

“Dustin Poirier, I’m going to smash your face in. Meet me in New Zealand in 2020. I’m going to end you,” Hooker said in his post-fight interview with Jon Anik after the win.

Poirer appeared disinterested with the call out, suggesting that Hooker should fight Donald Cerrone instead.

With Poirier not taking the bait, Hooker has taken to social media, offering to pay Poirier’s charity, The Good Fight Foundation, half of his show money if he agrees to take the fight in Auckland.

@DustinPoirier if you take the fight against me I'll donate half my show money to your charity @TheGoodFightFDN @seanshelby UFC Auckland Main Event! 👊👊👊

The Good Fight Foundation was established in 2018 by Poirier to raise money to benefit local community initiatives.

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov wore and sold Poirier’s fight shirt after he defeated him at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi, and donated the proceeds to the foundation.

“He’s the highest-ranked guy and I just beat the No. 6 in the world in pretty convincing fashion,” Hooker said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show as to why he called out Poirier.

“He’s coming off a loss, he doesn’t have a fight so he’s the highest-ranked guy that doesn’t have a fight. I’ll start my way into the top. He’s No. 2 so I’ll start there.”
