One of the most anticipated fights of the year is set to take place this weekend as the UFC returns to Abu Dhabi. Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier are set to fight for the UFC lightweight title in what will be an amazing showdown.

Both men are on amazing runs of late with Khabib still being undefeated after his most recent victory over Conor McGregor at UFC 229. Dustin has been on a winning run, beating champions and former champions on his path to the interim 155-pound title.

Check out what some of Australia and New Zealand’s best had to say about the impending match up:

Robert Whittaker – UFC middleweight champion
I believe that Khabib will be too much for Dustin and just do what Khabib does best… maul him for 5 rounds. Dustin is a great talent and has the power to finish anyone, but I think Khabib is just too good for anyone right now.

Israel Adesanya – UFC middleweight interim champion
For this fight, I’m predicting fight of the night… maybe competed with fight of the year like me and Gastelum.

    Kai Kara-France – No.7 UFC flyweight
I think Poirier is going to pull an upset. I think his striking is strong enough to put Khabib away. 3rd round TKO.

Tyson Pedro – UFC light heavyweight
Khabib, I don’t see Khabib’s train slowing for a while… Khabib by 3rd Round TKO

    Jake Matthews – UFC welterweight
5th Round – Khabib to Decision

Tai Tuivasa – No.13 UFC heavyweight
    Poirier – 2nd round

Jimmy Crute – UFC light heavyweight
I got Poirier. Poirier has much better boxing and very underrated grappling. I’m going with 3rd or 4th round TKO/KO.

Megan Anderson – UFC women’s featherweight
I’m going with Khabib. I think his pressure will be too much and nothing Poirier has ever seen before. I think it will be a 4th or 5thround stoppage.

UFC 242: Khabib vs Poirier is live on PPV on Sunday, September 8th at of 4am AEDT via UFC, Main Event
