Melbourne’s Hex Fight Series returns for show number 19 this Friday night, which will take place once again at the Melbourne Pavilion. The 10-fight line up is stacked with local and international based talent. Former UFC fighter Ashkan Mokhtarian headlines in the main event opposite Japanese Pancrase veteran Shunichi Shimizu in a flyweight encounter.

Brother of current UFC featherweight Suman, Ashkan Moktarian will be looking at getting back in the winning column after a recent 0-2 stint in the UFC. The Australian Top Team product currently holds an impressive record of 13-3, having only dropped one loss in his career early on before joining the big show.

His opponent Shimizu (32-2-11), has been an active participant in MMA as a professional since 2005 and while the Japanese fighter may have the edge over Mokhtarian in experience, Mokhtarian has fought on the biggest promotion of them all. An evenly balanced international flyweight match up is a great way to culminate the night of fights on what looks to be a top notch card.

In the co headliner, local favourite Aidan Aguilera will take on Japanese submission specialist Yoshiaki Takahashi in a lightweight match up. Adrenaline MMA fighter Aguilera ( 8-2) is currently on a three-fight win streak, while his Japanese adversary Takahashi(12-7-2) holds a two-fight winning run. Aguilera has primarily fought out his entire career competing on the Hex Fight Series promotion, while Takahashi has for most of his career solely competed under the Pancrase banner.

Also on the main card, Victorian based Chris Wase is set to battle it out with Korean Sung Hoon Woo, while fellow Victorian prodigy Sean Gauci takes on Californian Angel Oilveras in a flyweight contest. Also of note, heavy-hitters Randall Ray and Jack Tuave will go head to head in a clash of heavyweights.

    Fight Card:

    • Ashkan Mokhtarian vs Shunichi Shimizu
    • Aidan Aguilera vs Yoshiaki Takahashi
    • Chris Wase vs Sung Hoon Woo
    • Sean Gauci vs Angel Oliveras
    • Randall Ray vs Jack Tuave
    • Matt Myers vs Hoshi Friedrich
    • Sam Hibberd vs Jeff Mesa
    • Darwin Sagurit vs Naoto Shimizu
    • Jack Jenkins vs Naoya Uchibayashi
    • Sara Collins vs Gase Sanita
