We can all breathe a sigh of relief as Mark Hunt early today confirmed on twitter that he has been given the all clear after weeks of trying.
“Thank u for my visa father,” Hunt wrote on Twitter earlier on Monday with UFC officials confirming to MMAFighting.com later that he was on his way to Las Vegas.
With less than a week to go, it’s less than ideal situation as Hunt was expected to leave New Zealand for Las Vegas late on Monday. Hunt was denied a visa unexpectedly due to an old 2002 arrest in the United States, despite having travelled back and forth from the country on a number of occasions since. UFC had applied for Roy Nelson to be a back-up, but looks like he will no longer be needed.
Hunt faces former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos on the UFC 160 card, with fellow Sydney based fighters James Te Huna and Robert Whittaker also scheduled for the event. The event will be headlined by a UFC Heavyweight Title bout between Champion Cain Velasquez and challenger Antonio Silva.
