Kai Kara-France called to be on the upcoming UFC 234 card in Melbourne and he has got his wish.

After a dominating win in his UFC debut last Sunday in Adelaide, Kara-France will make a quick turnaround against Reulian Paiva at UFC 234 in Melbourne. Stuff.co.nz was first to report the matchup.

“I want to be on that Melbourne card with my teammate Israel, we can go into camp together through Christmas,” Kara-France told the media at the UFC Adelaide post-fight press conference.

Kara-France will get the opportunity to join his City Kickboxing teammate Israel Adesanya on the card who will be taking on UFC legend Anderson Silva.

The main event for UFC 234 which takes place on February 10 at Rod Laver Arena features Robert Whittaker defending his UFC middleweight title against Kelvin Gastelum

There has been a lot of speculation about the UFC removing the flyweight division but Kara-France and his opponent Elias Garcia showed why it deserves to stay in their Fight of the Night Performance at UFC Adelaide which saw them both pocket US$50,000  for their efforts.

The upcoming bout between Kara-France and Paiva is expected to take place at flyweight, adding to the hope of many that the division will remain

“I’m here to hopefully save the flyweight division,” Kara-France said.

“There’s rumors that it is going to go under but hopefully that fight showed that we are exciting and we should be here.”

Paiva will be making his UFC debut after earning a contract on the Brazilian version of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series where he picked up a split-decision victory.

The 23-year-old has won 18 of his 19 professional fights with the lone loss coming back in back in 2015. He has won his last 12 fights in a row.
