Callan Potter to fight former UFC and Bellator fighter Marcin Held at ACB 88 in Brisbane

Victorian lightweight Callan Potter has waited long enough.

In the face of resounding calls for “The Rockstar” to be signed with the UFC, Potter has nabbed himself an amazing opportunity with Russian promotion Absolute Championship Berkut (ACB).

In his debut for the organisation, Potter will take on former UFC and Bellator fighter Marcin Held on the upcoming ACB show in Brisbane on June 16.

Held will also be making his debut for the promotion after recently being released from the UFC despite winning his most recent fight. Held lost his first three fights with the UFC after a notable 11-2 run in Bellator. Held fought Will Brooks for the Bellator lightweight title in November of 2015 but ultimately lost a unanimous decision.

Potter, who is the reigning Hex Fight Series and Eternal MMA lightweight champion, is undefeated in his last eight outings with all the wins being stoppage victories.

The upcoming show in Brisbane will be the second show ACB has had on Australian shores after their maiden voyage on the Gold Coast last year. The promotions mantra is “less show, more fighting” which is certainly on display during their events, with the fights rolling on in quick succession.

ACB 88 will take place at the Chandler Arena in Brisbane and will be headlined by a middleweight bout between former UFC fighters Chis Camozzi and Thiago Silva.

    Fights announced so far:

Thiago Silva (20-7) vs. Chris Camozzi (24-13)

Luke Barnatt (14-5) vs. Karol Celinski (15-6-1)

Callan Potter (16-6) vs. Marcin Held (23-7)

Corey Nelson (20-6-2) vs. Mindaugas Verzbickas (14-6-2)

Chase Gormley (14-7) vs. Tanner Boser (14-4)

Steven Kennedy (25-8) vs. Emanuel EJ Brooks (12-5)

New Zealand’s Shane Young will fight at UFC Singapore
