In a rematch that has implications for the top-end of the super middleweight division in Australia, Jake Lund and Charlie Bubb are set to go at it again this Saturday night in the main event of Eruption Muay Thai 15.

The five round fight will be for the Eruption Muay Thai Super Middleweight title and takes place at the Eagle Sports Complex in Mansfield, Queensland.

Perhaps two of the best Super Middleweight fighters in Australia right now, Bubb and Lund will both be coming into the bout having improved since their 2016 matchup in which Lund took the decision by the closest of margins.

Currently ranked number nine in the world by the World Boxing Council (WBC) and holding the WBC International Super Middleweight title, Lund is looking to continue his upward trajectory with a successful showing against a fighter who many would claim is in the top three super middleweights in the country. To help prepare for the bout Lund spent some of his fight camp training in Phuket at Kaewphitak Muay Thai before returning home to round off his preparations. Lund returns to the squared circle having beaten tough Kiwi fighter Mike ‘Blood Diamond’ last October via a fifth-round stoppage.

Hailing from Orange in  New South Wales, Bubb brings with him a wealth of big fight experience at only 20 years of age. With a fight record of 39 fights for 33 wins, Bubb is at the higher end of the division and will be looking to return to the winner’s circle in this bout. His fight in October last year against arguably the number one super middleweight fighter in Australia, Toby Smith, ended in defeat but solidified his position within the division and earned the respect of many in the Australian muay thai community.

The night’s semi-main event also features a rematch between two of Australia’s best bantamweight fighters, Brodie Stalder and Corey Nicholson. The two fighters met in February of 2017 when they battled it out for the World Muay Thai Council (WMC) Queensland title, with Nicholson walking away with the upset victory and the belt. The fight between the two was nominated for ‘Fight of The Year’ at the 2017 Australian Muay Thai Awards.

A veteran of the Australian muay thai scene, Stalder returns to the ring on Saturday night after having lost his last bout to the tough Thai, Nai Sinbi, last October on Warriors Way 20 in Melbourne. A year of mixed results for Stalder, he will be looking for an improved performance against Nicholson, in a bout for the Eruption Bantamweight Title.

Nicholson will come into Saturday night’s event strong in the belief that he can replicate the last result between the two and really cement his position as one of the best bantamweight fighters in the country right now. With just 31 fights to his name and at such a young age, the sky truly is the limit for the Queensland champion.

Earlier on the card is an interstate matchup between one of Queensland’s hottest rising prospects in Lachy Holliday and the experienced Sydney-sider Sebastian Holmes. The undefeated Holliday is currently riding an 11 fight win streak and will be looking to add to his flawless record come Saturday night.

Holliday last fought in February when he successfully defended his WBC Queensland Super Middleweight title against Brad Davies. Looking to put a halt to his run will be Holmes, who returns to the ring following a seven-month lay off after dropping a close decision to David Penimpede last September for the WMC New South Wales Super Middleweight title.

    Fight Card:

    • Jake Lund vs. Charlie Bubb – Eruption Super Middleweight Title
    • Brodie Stalder vs Corey Nicholson – Eruption Bantamweight Title
    • Lachy Holliday vs Sebastian Holmes
