Jamie Mullarkey will be eager to halt a two-fight skid this weekend in Sydney as the Central Coast featherweight takes on Mildura based submission specialist Jesse Medina in the Brace 51 main event.

Up until early 2016, when he ran into a red hot Alex Volkanovski in what was a highly anticipated clash in Australian MMA, Mullarkey (8-2) was undefeated on the local scene with victories over the likes of JJ Van Aswegen, Byron Cowell and Greg Criticos. A two time Brace champion, Mullarkey, was on the receiving end of a brutal first round KO at the hands of the current UFC fighter that night. Following the defeat, the the 23 year-old would go on to lose via TKO to Luke Catubig before taking some time away from the cage.

More than twelve months on and Mullarkey now finds himself facing BJJ brown belt Jesse Medina from the Mildura Fight Team. One of the most active fighters in Australia, Medina (12-6) has faced some of the country’s best in his time, and after mixed results in 2016, recently steered back on track by submitting the previously undefeated Jack Jenkins at Hex Fight Series 11.

Experienced lightweights Ethan Duniam and Abel Brites are set to clash in the show’s co-main event.

Brites (10-5), who has fought the likes of Nick Patterson, Greg Atzori and UFC fighter Damien Brown in his career, will look to bounce back on Saturday night following a submission loss to streaking local lightweight Callan Potter in March. In a much different position to his opponent, Tasmania’s Duniam (8-4), on the other hand, will be gunning for three wins on the trot after impressive 2017 stoppage victories over Myles Simpson and Anthony Bynoe.

    Fight Card:

    • Jesse Medina vs. Jamie Mullarkey
    • Ethan Duniam vs. Abel Brites
    • Cameron Rowston vs. Daniel Currie
    • Jack Thorburn vs. Guy Kenjar
    • James Vandarakis vs. Paul Parkhouse
    • Danielle Curtis vs. Emma Von Ryan

    * Fight Card details may not be accurate. FNA could not reach promotion to acquire final lineup.
