Australian Tommy Browne successfully challenged for the IBO Asia-Pacific super welterweight boxing title with a unanimous decision victory over veteran Sirimongkhon Iamthuam on Friday night.
The bout featured as the co-main event of “The Roar of Singapore III” which was promoted by Ringstar and occurred at the Suntec Convention Centre in Singapore.
It’s his second straight victory in Singapore, having defeated Alexander Bajawa back in May with a third round TKO. Thirty-four year-old Browne is now undefeated since a 2008 loss to the talented Leonardo Zappavigna. His opponent, 40-year-old Sirimongkohn is a former WBC super-featherweight world title holder and brought an impressive 92-3 record into the bout.
Also on the card, Renold Quinlan returned back to action for the first time since he was stopped by ranked opponent Chris Eubank Jr. Quinlan rebounded in impressive style, securing the first round stoppage over Indonesia’s Alexander Bajawa. The win took Quinlan’s record to 11-2, while Bajawa drops to 41-6-4.
Quinlan is scheduled to face Russia’s Fedor Chudinov in December.
