For the second time in 2014, Valor welterweight champion Callan Potter will put his title on the line, as he comes up against Stuart Dare in the Valor 9 main event on Saturday night.

Valor returns to Albert Hall in Launceston, Tasmania for this one, and to close out what was another busy year for the promotion.

Following his one-night welterweight title tournament win at Valor 5, with wins over Damon Upton-Greer and Nick Denholm for a combined total of just 49 seconds, Callan ‘The Rockstar’ Potter made his first title defense knocking out David Butt with a brutal head kick at Valor 7 (video here). Training under Priscus Fogagnola in Hobart, Stuart Dare booked his shot at Valor gold on Saturday night when he submitted Hoshi Friedrich with a rear-naked choke at C-Series 6.

With a massive eight fights behind him in 2014, Eternal MMA champion David Butt makes his promotional return to face Adam Trickey in the co-headliner, with the winner to go on and face lightweight champion Adam ‘The Smiling Assassin’ Cook at a later date. Butt will no doubt be eager for another crack at the current champion and avenge a closely contested, and entertaining, five-round loss in June (video here).

Valor 9 will be the sixth offering from the Tasmanian based promotion in 2014, and 15th since Valor 1 back in mid-2012.

    Fight Card:

    • Callan Potter vs Stuart Dare – Valor welterweight title fight
    • David Butt vs Adam Trickey
    • Damon Upton-Greer vs Hoshi Friedrich
    • Jesse Medina vs Dylan Wolf
    • Mick Flaherty vs David Simmons
    • Dalton Jenkins vs Jerick Panes
    • Steven Maxwell vs Stephan Friedrich
    • Dennis Markovic vs Luke Hearn
    • Benny Parry vs Jesse Gibbins
