Australia’s only all-female muay thai event returns for 2017 on Sunday 25th June when some of the best fighters from around Australia will go head-to-head at the Meat Market in North Melbourne. A ‘Super-4’ single-night elimination tournament will headline the show, supported by a strong undercard of local and international talent.

Featuring four of Australia’s top female fighters from around the country, the 57kg tournament will look to crown the best fighter on the night after two fights. Up for grabs is an opportunity for the winner to fight overseas as the Australian representative on a future Dynamite Naksoo Fight Tour tournament.

Representing Victoria is current World Muay Thai Council (WMC) 57kg Victorian Champion, Pamela Ablang who is coming off her main event win on Roots 3 in May, beating the tough Sarah-Jane Rangi.

Travelling down from Queensland to join the line-up is exciting young fighter Samantha Torrens who currently trains under the watchful eye of Australian muay thai legend, ‘John’ Wayne Parr, at the renowned Boonchu Gym on the Gold Coast.

The third fighter in the tournament is former World Boxing Council (WBC) Muay Thai Lightweight Western Australian Champion, Alice Becklake who only recently made her professional boxing debut in March.

Rounding out the stellar 4-woman lineup is Bec Rooney from the Northern Territory who in May, represented Australia at the International Federation Muay Thai Amateur (IFMA) World Championships in Belarus.

Supporting the tournament in the semi-main event will be a battle between two of Australia’s sharpest female fighters in Sydney’s Yolanda Schmidt and Cairn’s fighter Kiri Bradley. Schmidt returns to competition following her win against New Zealand’s Nicola Callander with a third round stoppage on the World Muay Thai Angels tournament in April. Bradley comes to Melbourne on Sunday fresh off a win against Tiah Steinhardt at the Combat Fight Series – Fighting for Autism show in early June. Both fighters are high calibre and the crowd in attendance should be treated to a great display of muay thai technique.

The Dynamite Naksoo Fight Tour, originally conceived in 2015, has previously held events in both Jakarta and Borneo. The decision was made in 2016 to bring the tour back home to Melbourne and focus primarily on female matchups.

“We decided to go with an all-female card to promote female empowerment in sport. We wanted to showcase the talent and drive behind female athletes in muay thai and to provide long overdue recognition for their dedication and technical abilities” promoter and tour founder Dennis O’Dea told Fight News Australia.
