Brisbane based promotion Xtreme Fighting Championships (XFC) is set to hold another event with two professional titles to go on the line. It will be headlined by a bantamweight title fight as Jacob Mahony looks to defend his title against New Zealand fighter Evander Agnew.

XFC 21 goes down at the Mansfield Tavern on Brisbane’s outskirts this Saturday, 14 June.

Now based out of the Advance Martial Arts gym, local fighter Jacob Mahony captured the promotions bantamweight title back in February when he submitted Shantaram Maharaj at XFC 20. The rear-naked choke win was Mahony’s second victory over Maharaj after previously also defeating him in May 2013. The 25 year-old has won five out of his last six bouts, with a loss coming at the hands of Chris Morris at Fightworld Cup.

Mahony’s opponent, Evander Agnew travels over from the Groundcontrol gym in Auckland, New Zealand and is a team-mate of XFC 20 headliner Shane Young who impressed in his narrow decision loss to Adrian Rodriguez. Agnew has stepped up to replace the injured Mitchell Mallett for the fight and will be keen to get the biggest win of his career in his first fight on Australian soil.

A women’s title is set to go on the line for the first time in the XFC as New Zealand stand-out Kate Da Silva (7-1) meets Jessy “Jess” Rose-Clark (3-1) for the promotions bantamweight title.

Training out of the Gracie Gym in New Zealand under her husband Roney Da Silva, Kate will bring an impressive 7-1 record to the fight and just recently won two-fights in one night to take home the Princess of Pain tournament. A BJJ Black Belt and multiple times national Brazilian Jiu Jitsu champion, Da Silva will look to use that that grappling experience to her advantage when she faces Jessy “Jess”.

Training out of the Integrated Martial Arts, Jessy “Jess” will be looking for her second consecutive win after defeating Zoie Shreiweis back in February to tke out the Unarmed Combat Unleased title. It was her first fight since losing a unanimous decision to Kyra Purcell back in November. Jessy also has a notable victory over women’s boxing world champion Arlene Blencowe and has a fight scheduled against Lana Kate in late July.

Two former XFC amateur title holders will face-off in a state-of-origin clash as Sassom MMA trained James Klingner comes up against Ben Quarmby from MMA United in New South Wales. Quarmby captured the promotions amateur middleweight title back at XFC 17, while Klingner defeated the previously undefeated Kyle Parmley to capture the promotions amateur welterweight title back in February. Both have since made their professional debuts and are eager to get another win on the board.

Also in professional bouts on the card, Damien Fraser from Infinity Martial Arts will meet Robert Carruthers from Advance Martial Arts while Integrated Martial Arts fighter Alex MacDonald meets New Zealand BJJ brown belt Pumau Campbell in a lightweight bout.

    Fight Card (Pro):

    • Jacob Mahony (c) vs Evander Agnew – XFC bantamweight title
