New Zealand’s Kieran Joblin upset former UFC fighter Ben Wall on Saturday night on the hybrid ‘Armageddon’ card in Christchurch, NZ.
Armageddon ‘The Moment of Truth’ took place at the NZ Institute of Sport in Christchurch. The Trans-Tasman battle was contested at lightweight and served as the show’s main event.
Fighting out of the Strikeforce Canterbury gym in Christchurch, Joblin was awarded a split points decision over the Aussie after three rounds. The win follows the Kiwi’s dominant TKO victory over Taela Kelly at Carnage in the Cage 4 earlier in the year, a comeback result for Joblin, who was outpointed by Bernardo ‘Trekko’ Magalhaes prior to that last year. ‘The Stonecutter’ also holds notable career wins over Gokhan Turkyilmaz and Ian Schaffa.
On the other side of the result, Wall now stands win-less in his last four outings. Prior to Saturday night, following back-to-back UFC defeats, the 26 year-old lost a controversial majority points decision to Melbourne’s Nick Patterson at Hex FS 2.
